During the first quarter of 2026, Seymour Rehabilitation and Healthcare received an overall rating of 4 out of 5, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This is above the Texas nursing home average, which stood at 2.7.
The facility offered 90 available beds, which is 23 fewer than the Texas average as of the first quarter of 2026. It supported an average daily census of 43.7 residents over that time.
Seymour Rehabilitation and Healthcare also reported no fines or penalties issued in the first quarter of 2026.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the nation’s population of older adults is rising while the number of children declines. From 2020 to 2024, the 65-and-older age group grew by 13%, as the under-18 population decreased by 1.7%. Over the past century, the older adult demographic has soared, increasing from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A 2021 report found that nearly half of this population—about 28 million—may need long-term services and support. The same analysis projects that more than one-third could eventually require nursing home care.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
