After speaking with Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, state Sen. Pat Fallon gave his constituents updates on the COVID-19 situation in Texas.
Currently, Texas is under a stay-at-home order, which directs Texans not to leave their home unless they are performing an essential function, such as shopping or going to the doctor's, Fallon posted in a Facebook post.
"Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order implementing essential services and activities protocols for the entire state of Texas," the Republican from Prosper wroteon Facebook. "The protocols direct all Texans to minimize non-essential gatherings and in-person contact with people who are not in the same household. The governor’s executive order renews and amends his previous order enforcing federal social distancing guidelines for COVID-19, including closing schools and instructing Texans to avoid eating or drinking at bars and restaurants."
Essential activities are exempted from the executive order. Abbott also issued a quarantine order for travelers arriving from certain areas.
"Gov. Abbott issues executive order mandating 14-day quarantine for travelers arriving from California, Louisiana, Washington, Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit and Miami," Fallon posted.
Fallon tells Texans that listening to President Donald Trump and Abbott would help the nation be "on the other side of this in less than a month. Period."
"But some folks aren’t and by doing so they’re putting lives at risk and contributing to a potential economic Armageddon," Fallon wrote. "This must stop right now! Nobody wants to be in this situation but here we are. We must unite, act responsibly and with care and make this a memory as soon as we possibly can!"
Any executive orders that are violated can result in a $1,000 fine and 180 days in confinement, he said. To view all of the governor's executive orders, visit gov.texas.gov.
