Organizations in the Wichita Falls region have received approximately $34.5 million in federal CARES Act COVID-19 relief funds.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) discussed the aid that had been received and its impact during a recent visit to the Community Healthcare Center, which has benefited from the CARES Act, according to Cornyn's website. Community Healthcare Center CEO Allen Patterson provided a tour of the facility to show how they have used those funds to respond to the coronavirus pandemic.

A breakdown of the $34.5 million that has come to the Wichita Falls region shows that the largest share, $12.5 million, went to the United Regional Health Care System, where it assisted in the treatment of 172 COVID-19-positive and 584 COVID-19-presumptive patients. They were also able to process 11,802 coronavirus tests and establish multiple tent testing sites, as well as purchase personal protective equipment.
