There were 123 white students enrolled in Montague ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Montague ISD schools welcomed 151 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 81.5% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Montague ISD roughly covers schools within Montague County and has a main office in Montague.

Montague Elementary School was the only school in the district which enrolled white students, welcoming 123 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
