Montague County nonprofit receives $10,000 grant to assist residents through COVID-19

A Montague County nonprofit received a $10,000 grant from Texas-New Mexico Power to help it provide assistance to seniors and disabled residents during the COVID-19 economic shutdown.

Montague County Carpenters Shop is one of six nonprofits to receive the grant, according to News Channel 6. The nonprofit will put the money toward senior and disabled residents meal delivery. 

The nonprofit is also going to be taking temperatures of the residents, according to News Channel 6. 

The other five nonprofits to receive a grant from Texas-New Mexico Power are:

- Alvin Volunteer Fire Departments, which will be providing personal protective equipment to firefighters and residents.

- Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, which will grocery shop and do other routine tasks for residents.

- Galveston County Food Bank, which will fund food deliveries for seniors.

- Rotary Club of Friendswood Charitable Foundation, which will buy meals from local restaurants and deliver them to citizens.

- Sweeny Community Hospital Development Foundation, which will give meals, hygiene items and first aids kits to seniors.
