Hispanic students comprised the most prevalent ethnic group in Cottle County schools in the 2023-24 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of the 161 students attending Cottle County schools, 43.5% were Hispanic. White students were the second largest ethnicity, making up 42.9% of the total enrollment.

In the previous school year, Hispanic students also made up the largest ethnic group in Cottle County, comprising 43.7% of the student body.

Paducah School had the most diverse student body in Cottle County, including white, American Indian, Black, Asian, Hispanic, Pacific Islander, and multiracial.

When compared to the previous school year, total public school enrollment in the county increased by 1.9%.

“As a result, many districts in our very own Central Texas region are being forced to cut back on essential programs, services, consider school closures, and adopt deficit budgets just to provide students with the education that they deserve,” Hutto ISD Trustee James Matlock said.
