A $287,500 Texas Workforce Commission grant will enable Workforce Solutions North Texas (WSNT) to provide job training for area businesses as they adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Wichita Falls Times Record News reported that the Skills Development Fund COVID-19 Special Initiative training can provide up to $2,000 per trainee. Any North Texas business that has pandemic-related training needs may qualify.

“We are focusing our initial recruitment for this grant on the manufacturing and health care sectors due to a preliminary needs assessment,” Kendra Ball, WSNT business and outreach manager, told the Times Record News. “However, no industry has been excluded.”

Training covered under the program includes workplace safety. Ball said the training plan must earn TWC approval, and businesses must remain in good standing.

WSNT serves the counties of Archer, Baylor, Clay, Cottle, Foard, Hardeman, Jack, Montague, Wichita, Wilbarger and Young.
