There were 18 African American students enrolled in Paducah ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.3% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Paducah ISD schools welcomed 158 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 11.4% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Paducah ISD roughly covers schools within Cottle County and has a main office in Paducah.

Paducah School was the only school in the district which enrolled African American students, welcoming 18 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
